History
Sir Philip Albert Muntz, 1st Baronet (5 Jan 1839 - 21 Dec1908) was an English businessman and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1884 to 1906. He commissioned Dunsmore House to be built in 1881 designed to be a fine example of the Tudor Gothic revivalist genre with its Ashlar dressed stone facade, carved details and mullioned and transomed windows. The principle rooms are of generous proportions and the original internal woodwork and detail is of the highest standard.
The home lends itself to a number of other potential uses. Having previously been a nursing home, there could be the potential to change its use to another commercial venture such as a boutique hotel, wedding venue or apartments (STPPP). The owner has introduced a full fire system to include, heat & smoke detectors, emergency lighting and sprinkler system which would aid achieving planning for commercial use.
The rear formal garden benefits from a south facing direction with rural views that are enjoyed from the huge terrace, with several stone steps down to the large area of lawn. The bungalow is also extremely well appointed and would be perfect for extended family or staff quarters. The owner has stated that the surrounding land & fishing lake which covers approx. 23 acres may be available by separate negotiation with a local land owner.
